Jennifer Girone

Jennifer Girone - The School for Strings Early Childhood InstructorOriginally from Long Island, Jennifer Girone started playing cello at the age of nine and immediately fell in love with music. She continued on to earn her Bachelors of Music from the Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut, where she studied with Steven Thomas and earned honors such as principal chair in the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, “Best of” in the semi-annual chamber competition, and the Presser Foundation Scholarship. She went on to receive her Masters of Music at Mannes College at The New School for Music in New York under the guidance of Paul Tobias. Her accolades included a performing-arts scholarship and the Assistant Principal chair in the Mannes Orchestra.

Ms. Girone has performed in venues across the United States including the Warner Brothers' Studios in Los Angeles with the Henry Mancini Institute, in Houston, Texas at the Texas Music Festival, and in New Britain, Connecticut with the New Britain Symphony. She also had the honor of performing in Italy as a part of the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca. Currently residing in New York City, Ms. Girone is a founding member of the Archipelago String Quartet.

Ms. Girone studied Early Childhood Education with Tova Rosenberg and Suzuki Pedagogy with Pamela Devenport. She is currently on faculty at The School for Strings teaching the Early Childhood Music Program. In addition,she is teaching cello at the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music and at the Belle Arti Center for the Arts.
